A unique care center
11 tanks of 1500 liters, each containing only one turtle at a time. Cleaned daily, these basins allow easy handling of animals and individual monitoring.
Food and care of sea turtles
Every day, sea turtles are fed (frozen fish supplemented with vitamins, live crustaceans and molluscs for stimulation, plants for green turtles). When necessary, sea turtles are treated (administration of treatment, force-feeding, disinfection of wounds, etc.) and stimulated (enrichment of the environment).
The sea turtles in the care center
Since 2002, more than 250 sea turtles have been hosted by CESTMed, mainly Loggerhead turtles (Caretta caretta) with the exception of two green turtles (Chelonia mydas) recovered in September 2014.
